A World Of Chocolate ~ Beyond The Milky Way And Mars!

The Sweetest DayThe Sweetest Day of the year was started by a man with a generous spirit around 1921 in Cleveland Ohio. Herbert Birch Kingston, a candy company worker, grouped together with 12 Confectioners who worked to promote this simple holiday as a token to remember the forgotten, orphaned, sick neglected and underprivileged. There is some skepticism whether the newly created holiday was an attempt to generate consumer interest for another day to promote products. I'd prefer to believe that it is a day celebrated on the 3rd Saturday of every October to help remember family, friends, neighbors, orphans and shut ins who often fall through societal cracks and are invisible, much like the millions of homeless today. The Sweetest Day is mostly celebrated in the mid west as a day to remember people with small Chocolate gifts and other tokens of friendship for an act of kindness or a small remembrance. ELF, the invisible health threat Chocolate Fountains Sacred Chocolate Whether it was raw consumerism or true compassion, a well known actress at the time, Theda Bsara, gave away 20,000 boxes of candy to hospitals and to people attending her films. The Sweetest Day isn't based on any religious beliefs or familial structure, but more just an opportunity for us to make someone's day a little sweeter. Of course, you don't have to wait for a special day to remember people or to notice people that are invisible. Hundreds of homeless people in Portland Oregon have refused to abandon their animal companions. Often we see homelss people with their animal companions, and it gives us pleasure to give them or their dogs small treats. Aren't there economically challenged folks everywhere that would appreciate any small token of kindness, even a simple hello? Legends are wonderful, but is there really anything as exciting as truly knowing about Chocolate?
